King Tunji The Tyrant, and Kola's Guard Code Of Honor...chapter one

King Tunji sat majestically on his throne, feeling rather happy at the sight before him. His subject including the elders bowed heads down before him, begging for his mercy and consideration. The land had been wasted and destroyed by natural disasters, famine and drought. With no food and water, the people soon became lean, but reverse was the case for the king, who had only added more weight and even more levies and taxes on the people, killing anyone who defiled him. Now he sat with his hand rubbing his chin, thinking of a way to burden the people even more. Then he stopped, an idea had eventually come in, a way to kill two birds with one stone, he had long desired the wife of his Royal Guard's commander, and this was the perfect opportunity to strike.
"Kola! Kola!!!!", he demanded furiously for the commander, who instantly and swiftly ran through the entrance of the palace, with five other hefty men blessed with muscular features, and cover in sweat behind him. He knelt down and bowed his head in respect for the king.
"My King, you summoned me?", he said with authority rising from the bottom of his lungs. This agitated the king, for he was jealous of the physique and charisma of the commander, he also hated the fact that he was righteous and loved by the people.
"Did you not hear me when I called hours ago, or do you want your king to lose his voice, if so I shall consider this a conspiracy", he said furiously and enraged, standing up and began waving his staff around almost hitting the slave that stood beside him.
"My king, I only just heard now, I am sorry for my insolence and poor hearing, what shall I do to atone for my sins and prove my loyalty to you?", he apologized knowing how easy it was to anger the king, and how deadly his wrath could be.
The king, pleased with himself for setting the perfect trap and also angry at the way the Kola had handled it with such grace, "You fool!, the next time I raise my voice to call you, I shall receive soothing from your wife".
Kola was shocked at the words that came out of the King's mouth, but no matter how angry he was, all he could do was comply, "Yes my lord".
King Tunji sat back down on his throne disappointed that he wouldn't get his reward as quickly as he thought he could, then he pretended to meditate and then he pronounced his decree, "The people of my kingdom have come to plead for the help of the palace in battling these disasters that befell our land, and so today I command you, to go to the south west region, to the village of Ire, and burn it down, so that my people can farm on the lands, and you must do this before the end of tomorrow cycle".
An even greater shock came over Kola, as he never expected such cruelty from the king, "My lord, if it may please you, then I shall speak".
Knowing fully well what was on the mind of Kola, the king pretended to be ignorant, "Did you not just speak on you own accord? Why now do you ask for permission, or are you now a fool?"
Kola resisted speaking back, but decided to shake his head in disagreement.
"What do you have to say now?, speak or forever remain tongue tied", the king ordered.
"My Lord, if it pleases you i would like to beg for your forgiveness ahead of time", Kola begged now bending his head touching the ground.
Pleased at this sight, the king smirked and said, "My forgiveness?!, it is granted, but if I feel too irritated, I will revoke it".
Kola became cautious with his words, and began with praises, "My lord, I know you are infinitely wise and generous, not even our ancestors could comprehend your wisdom, allow me ask you to render a lighter punishment to the people of Ire", he begged because his wife's lineage was from that very village.
"You shower me first with praises that are true, and then request something so great, your tongue knows no bounds, I have heard your request, and so I declare anew, you personally shall be beheaded as soon as you've completed this task, and that is my decree!!!!", King Tunji rose from his chair, and made his way to the entrance of his inner chambers with a smile on his face, he was pleased at how well he had handled the issue, and also that he would get to have his way with Kola's wife, the elders and the rest of his subjects arose and left the premises of the palace, all in anguish and regret, some weeping others murmuring, but Kola knelt there lost in thought of what he was to do.
