king Tunji the tyrant and Kola's Guard Code Of honor...Chapter 3

Fierce African woman
The crickets were graciously singing their mating song, as they were joined in union by the crackling sounds of the fire as it burned away the skins of the woods which were trying to have a relaxing nap in its embrace. Kola's home was sited deep in the forest, far from the people as was the custom of their land. This was done in order to avoid attachments to any single person in the village, thus allowing him make impartial decisions when ever a situation involved him and the villagers. Kola sat on his clay stool moulded by his fathers before him, sipping a cup of palm wine with the keg beside him.
"Oko mi, what is troubling you?", Damilola asked knowing that her husband dared not stay up late sipping palm wine without a reason.
"It's nothing, go back to sleep", Kola answered.
Damilola sat at the feet of her husband and said, "Can a woman go to sleep knowing that the pillars of her home is not in the right state?".
"The woman had better not disturb the pillar, or she might end up dropping its wrath on her head", Kola said caressing the top of his cup with had become half empty.
"Haba! My husband, you know I mean well", Damilola said concerned that he had taken her words the wrong way.
"My wife, I know you mean well, but what troubles me may either kill you, or tarnish our name", he said worried that she would do even worse.
"I would rather die before my husband than to live in rest while my husband's mind is in chaos", she said.
"You shouldn't say that, the gods may heed your words",
"But it's true, so tell me my love, what is it that troubles you, for two heads are better than one", she said running her hands on his feet, massaging his fingers to soothe him.
"Alright if you wish to know so badly, I will tell you what happened", he said giving up, resistance was always futile and deadly when it came to her.
"I'm all ears my lord",
Kola sipped the wine once more and emptied the remains on the ground, and then he began saying, "The king has ordered me to burn down your village",
"What!?", she yelled but immediately covered her lips with her hand.
"And he has ordered for my head as well", he said but immediately wished he had taken back his words.
"I knew it, this King can not even get over my rejection, now he wants to take it out on my husband and my people", she said angrily standing up from her position, she rushed into the house and minutes later came out with her husband's machete. Kola knew her temper would not be easily quelled, she didn't just reject the king, she humiliated him in public, and she would do even worse this time around. Her anger was what earned his love and respect, it was also the reason he didn't want to tell her about the occurrence in the palace. If she hadn't come as a woman, she would have been the Commander of the Royal Guard instead of him.
"Do you want to go and kill the King?", Kola shouted as he struggled to hold his grip on his wife, who was now throwing him around like a wounded wild bull.
"Leave me oh!, if he wants your head, I shall give him his", she said waving the weapon around in anger.
"Are you going out of your senses, why are you so different from the other women of this village?",
"Have you forgotten my lineage?, that my people are mixed with the eastern dwellers' blood?, have you forgotten my ancestors' story?, have you forgotten why we are called, Iha Iwo-oorun?, I am sure that is also why that foolish king and his idiotic wife chose my people's land to burn down, Leave me let me and take Justice", she yelled and struggled even more harder than she did before, but Kola would not let go. He had fought a wide range of individuals for her hand, and he wouldn't let himself be overcome by her, he began to realize why they called her, Ijamba.
