It's the thought that counts... Chapter thirteen

Taxi

The Uber driver halted his cab at the address given to him by Mayowa who had been accompanied by Charlie. He had been too worried to let her go home alone for she had gotten herself drunk from the bottles of stout and champagne she never wanted to order in the first place. The car door got pushed open by Charlie and out came he and Mayowa, who had a bottle of stout in hand still.

"Here's your pay" he said paying off the Uber cab driver.

"But how would you get back home?" Mayowa asked still drunk.

"Don't worry about me, let's just get you inside your home first" Charlie said raising her arm over his shoulder, he grabbed her purse from the back seat and closed the cab door.

"I'm a big girl, I can get home on my own" she said with a naughty look in her eyes, as she licked her lips which made them shimmer in the moonlight.

"I know that" Charlie said while they walked to her door.

"You liar, I can see through you, demon!" she said stumbling on her first step forward, Charlie quickly held her tightly preventing her collision with the floor.

"Tsk! Stupid heels" she said kicking the heels off her foot, she turned towards Charlie who was still holding on to her tightly. "What?" she asked.

"Nothing" he answered.

"Will you carry me to the door?" she asked staring at the door, a few steps away.

"But it's not..." he paused and decided to go as she wished. He swung her off her feet and carried her in his arms like a baby, before continuing his advance.

"You have really strong hands" she said wrapping her arms around his neck.

"Thank you, I guess" Charlie said uncertain of the her drunken state being genuine.

"Charlie?" she called.

"Yeah" he answered.

"Do you think I'm a monster that deserves to die?" she asked looking him in the eye.

"I don't know" he answered.

"What do you mean by that?" she asked with an angry stare.

Noticing her look he said, "Truth be told, I believe everyone has a monster inside them, some know it, others don't. Some show it while others do not, some accept it as the truth while others just lie to themselves about it. In the end, if you deserve to die because you are a monster, then everyone deserves to die too".

"That's not what I asked you" Mayowa said unsatisfied by his answer.

"I'm sorry but I can't give you anything other than that" he said stopping at the door, "we are here now".

"So soon?" she asked strengthening her grip around his neck.

"Come on, let go already" he said, she slowly released her grip allowing him lay her down to the ground. "These belong to you" he said handing over her heels and purse.

She smiled and said "I guess this is good night then".

"Yeah" he said both making eye contact, not saying a word. "Alright then, I should be on my way then" he said turning around, he began taking his steps down the four levelled staircase.

Mayowa opened the door allowing the moonlight into the house, she stopped halfway and turned around.

"Charlie!" she yelled running down the stairs, Charlie turned around and into his arms she fell making him loose his balance and to the ground they both landed, Mayowa on top with Charlie underneath.

"What was that..." he said but got interrupted by her as her lips connected with his shutting him up completely. He tried to resist but slowly succumbed to the desires of his flesh.

Mayowa released the lock between their lips with a grin on her face, she asked, "what did you think?".

Charlie ignored her question and leaned in for another kiss which was warmly welcomed by her lips. The moonlight shone brighter and both bodies laid there communicating now not with words but contact.
