Don't stray too far...Chapter five [Finale]
Joshua's sight were blurry as he came into consciousness, he tried to see where he was but couldn't make anything out of the darkness. He sat up and began to use his hands to feel around him, until he met a wall, the ground had been tiled and so were the walls.
"Hello?" he called out but didn't get an answer, he continued on with one hand on the wall and the other in front to stop him from hitting any obstacles. As he walked on forward, his hand met an abnormal part of the wall, he rubbed his palm on the surface and then realised that it was a switch.
"Thank God!" he said, flipping the switch over which turned on the lights. His vision began to get cleared, and the true form of the room became visible. It was a white room, extremely large in size.
"Am I missing something?" he asked wondering how he got there in the first place, his memories began to come into place, he remembered the black clouds and the blood ocean, he also remembered trying to save Dimma before she got struck by lightning in the shape of a vixen, and he also by a purple lightning.
"I should be dead right now", he said examining his body but couldn't find even a single scratch on himself.
"If I'm not dead then, Dimma?" he said turning his eyes around the room to see if she was anywhere close. But she wasn't, all he could find was a door with the label 'EXIT' written on it.
He began to walk towards it and in no time he got to it. Before him was the handle of the door, which he reached for but before he could pull, a voice called out to him softly, "Joshua".
This startled him for a moment, he turned around to find the person calling to him but found no one except him in the room. Minutes later he returned his gaze to the handle before him, and once again tried to pull.
"Joshua stop, don't leave me alone" the voice called sounding like Dimma.
Joshua turned around once again, this time he found her lying on the floor motionless and frail. His heart skipped as he ran to her body, he touched her neck to find a pulse, her body was cold, too cold.
"Yes" he heaved a sigh of relief as he found the pulse he was looking for. He picked her up in his arms and made his way to the door, pulled the handle and opened the door revealing nothing but a stone wall on the other side.
"What!?" Joshua yelled.
"You shouldn't have opened it" Dimma said turning into ash in his arms and slowly crumbled to the ground.
The temperature of the room began to rise, sweat began to form on his forehead, he wiped it off with the back of his palm. The floor and walls began to melt turning into hot larva.
"No! No!! No!!! Somebody help me! Get me out of this place!" he yelled banging his fist against the stone wall as the room began filling up with larva. In less than minutes, Joshua was nothing but a pile of ash and larva.
"Trial one thousand and fifty two complete" a male voice said.
"Restart the sequences for all the subjects" a female voice commanded.
"Restarting sequence now" the male replied.
"To think they still believe they are the highest intelligent beings, believing in the after life, they make for good nutrition for our people, these should last us another decade" she said.
"Sequence successfully restarted" he announced.
"Let the show continue" she said with a grin on her face.
Joshua, Dimma and the rest of the millions of lives in the chambers all began to scream out in pain fueling the containers.
