Where loneliness strives... Chapter three
Just as the Supreme being had said, after the twelve hours cycle of the sun came the white light deity known as the Moon. The moon had no inhabitants, it also possessed complete mobility which was something none of the deities had. Gradually it grew popular amongst the creatures of the night of both the earth and sea, it even drew some energy from the sun which allowed it glow even brighter to those whose eyes wished to see. It's elegance and beauty fascinated the Sea Queen, it's personality was unrivaled and refreshing. As she sat on a rock not so far from the sea and the shore of the earth in her demi form, the words of warning from the Almighty replayed over and over again in her head.
"My dear one, a warning you should heed, do not forget to tend to your inhabitants for I have seen what comes after, for if you do neglect thy duties, ye shall face a punishment of thy own making".
"I couldn't possibly neglect my duties and my children, could I?" she lamented.
"Dearest blue and ever appealing, how beautiful you look today" the moon said taking his own demi form as he landed on the rock, he sat beside her.
She stared at him with a smile before gently placing her head on his shoulder, "You flatter me so often, though it's been three months since your creation, it feels like we've known each other for a life time".
"One needs not know you to understand your true beauty as endless as it is" he said.
"Enough with your flattering, tell me how your cycle went".
"My cycle?" he asked with a confused look.
"Seriously? Don't tell me you haven't completed your cycle yet, it's almost time for dawn" she said.
The moon grinned and said, "I'm only kidding with you, of course I've completed my cycle, didn't you see me earlier?".
"umm, I must have missed you" she said turning her face away from him.
"Queen of all living beings in the sea, the one whose memories could never waver over time, how deep did your thoughts take you this time?" he asked placing his hand on hers.
"Not deep enough to forget about you as you can see" turning her face back to his.
He paused for a minute and then asked, "Would you forget me, if you had a choice?".
She kept silent for a while, splashing the water around her with her feet, each splash caused a wave in the sea. He saw her troubled by his question and rubbed her hand softly.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"It's nothing" she lied and he knew this.
"You have to tell me or I too would get worried for your sake" he said standing up from his position beside her, he attempted to take his leave but got held back by her.
"Please don't go" she begged him, pulling him back to her but he refused to take his position by her side.
She rose up, placed her palm on his cheek and the other around his neck and said, "I'm scared that the words of the Supreme one would come true, and I would choose you over my kin".
"What makes you think that would happen" he asked drawing closer to her, he rubbed his nose against hers causing her heart to skip a beat and also a great tide to rise on the sea.
"Because he warned Man and Man disobeyed still" she said leaning in to plant a kiss on his lips.
"Gracious Queen, it is time!" a squid interrupted pointing at the sun which was only meters away.
"I guess I have to go now" he said leaving her embrace but their hands were still locked in.
"Wait!" she yelled, "Remember our promise".
"Always" he said.
"Get out of my path you lesser light!" the sun yelled as he approached.
"Goodbye dearest" he said shifting into his deity form and returned back to the sky to continue his cycle.
"All will be well I hope" she said as she returned to the sea.
"This is not what we had in mind, he is taking my spotlight" the sun said taking his demi form.
"Indeed you are right" also taking his form.
"What will we do about this?" the sun asked.
"What else? If not what must be done" he answered.
