Where loneliness strives... Chapter five [finale]
The trumpets were blown as the clouds gave way revealing the golden gates of heaven, it was the end of another three hundred and sixty five days cycle but unlike the previous one, there was no noisy chatter by the creatures of the world. The land had been plunged into an era of drought and desolation, the trees were scanty and without leaves and the earth was dried up. The deities of both the earth and sun approached the gate and entered into the Kingdom of the Supreme Being.
"My Lord, the deities have arrived" a high ranking angel said knees bent and head bowed down low.
"Our ever gracious Creator" the deities said lowering their head as well.
"What has become of this place!?" He asked with anger in his eyes.
"My Lord, some months ago, the deity of lesser light had been killed by man and the deity of the sea has refused to returned from his side ever since then" the sun said.
"Yes my Lord, as a result of her refusal to return the her deity form, the sea itself began to dry up and the clouds refused to pour, leaving the land to become a place of drought, famine and death." the deity of the earth added.
The Supreme One was not pleased with this and rose from his throne, "Let us go to her at once" he said.
"But my Lord, it is not proper for you to do such" the sun objected.
"Did I not create this world by myself? Did any of you exist before me?" He asked.
"No my Lord" they answered.
"Then do not ever indulge in questioning my wisdom" He said and made his way to the location of the sea, behind him was an army of high ranking angels and the deities.
The sea laid beside her lover, looking frail and weak. The deities were given the immortality of youth and were unable to age or decay, but the moon had lost his bright white light. The creatures of the night surrounded them as they shared in the pain and grief of loosing their night deity.
"The Supreme Creator is here!!!" a wolf announced as the creator arrived, all the creatures lowered their heads to the ground in respect to Him, but the sea laid their still. She had stayed away from her counterparts for too long and had lost her ability to move.
At the sight of her frail body, the Supreme One's anger was quelled, He slowly descended from the sky, placed his hand on her forehead and gave her the strength to move.
"My King! I have failed you, I am very sorry for what I have done and I accept responsibility for it" she said touching the lower part of His golden mane.
"Dear one, your actions can not go unpunished" He said.
"I know my King" she said.
"Before I begin" he said turning his gaze to the other two deities, "Do you have anything to say?".
"Of course not my Lord" the earth said staring at the sun who nodded in agreement.
"Very well then" He said returning his eyes back to her, "My child, you have lived a longer life than any of them and you have served me well without faults up until now, for that I shall be merciful in my judgement. Your negligence has cost the lives of many creatures, for this I strip you of your status as Deity. You shall no longer possess the Demi form and you shall no longer communicate freely with the other deities, but I shall grant you your immortality, you may return to your counterparts."
"Yes my King" with these words the sea returned to her territory and became the formless sea.
The Supreme walked to the deathbed of the moon and said, "Without you in the sky her heart shall remain empty, arise my child" with these words the moon coughed and sneezed twice before taking a deep breath, "I give you only these conditions, you shall go beyond the atmosphere of this world, you shall live off the heat of the sun and you shall shine beautiful with your new companion which I shall call the stars, no longer shall you return to your Demi form. But I give you your immortality still, and you shall have control over some phenomenons on the sea and land, this is my decree" He said, a light from the heavens shone down onto the moon, lifting him upwards as he took his original spherical form.
"But my Lord, why revive him and have him feed off my heat?" the sun asked.
"Quiet!" the Supreme ordered turning towards him, "Do you take your Lord for a fool? You forget that I know and see all. You promised man their return to Eden if they did your will, and for that I shall have you share in a punishment worse than theirs. By your own hands you have dug your grave, I banish you from this world until the last day when you yourself shall be used to end it, you shall grow hotter every cycle and no creature shall come close or survive on you. You shall one day be consumed by man for his own use". And just like the moon, the sun too returned to his deity form and was sent beyond the atmosphere.
"My Lord, I know I am not worthy of your mercy, but please allow me a light punishment" the deity of the earth pleaded.
"Oh you fool, your chance for mercy has already been squandered. You shall receive pain from the works of man, you shall be destroyed by the sun on the last day and the years shall be cruel to you, I revoke your deity powers completely. You shall die painfully and be reborn anew only to die once again, this is my decree".
He returned to the heavens with his angels and as gate closed, the clouds began to pour filling the land and sea. Till this day, the moon and the sea still wait to fulfill their oats of never being apart.
